Sydney Adventist Hospital (SAN) is the largest private, not-for-profit hospital in New South Wales, caring for over 60,000 in-patients and nearly 120,000 out-patients every year.
It also operates the busiest private hospital emergency department in the state.
Challenge
Like any major healthcare facility, the SAN has huge energy demands for powering critical infrastructure, lighting, heating, cooling, and advanced medical equipment. But rising energy costs over the past five years were taking a serious toll on the hospital’s budget, limiting funds available for vital services.
Solution
The installation of an onsite solar system – one of the largest solar initiatives in any private hospital in New South Wales.
This project required a significant upfront investment. The SAN wanted to prioritise funding for medical equipment and patient care—not divert capital into energy infrastructure.
That’s where Northquest Capital stepped in. We evaluated the SAN’s long-term energy needs and financial position, then designed a custom, long term finance solution.
Outcome
As a result of Northquest Capital’s solution, the SAN experienced significant reductions in energy costs and a major environmental benefit, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 130,000 kilograms every year, not to mention cutting nitrogen oxide and sulphur dioxide emissions.
